Granada is based at the foot of the "Sierra Nevada. The Sierra is Spain's highest mountain-range where many people enjoying skiing. It´s highest peak, the "Mulhacén" has a height of 3478 meters, it´s not very far from the Mediterranean sea, so Granada makes the perfect place to live and study.
The Sierra Nevada Ski and Mountain Resort lies south of Europe. It lies at only 32 km from Granada and has sign-posted slopes for all skill-levels and contains excellent quality snow. If you´re into cross-country skiing, you´re in luck, as it has a cross-country skiing track, snow park with half-pipe and a recreational area for non-skiers, sleigh rides and night skiing on weekends.

Fashions, Gifts and Antiques
Most of the modern and trendy shops are located close to Granada´s Cathedral and in the areas surrounding Puerta Real, Carrera de la Virgen, Recogidas, Acera del Carro, and Pedro Antonio de Alarcón.
If you are looking for something a bit different then there are also many antiques and craft shops which are near these areas in most of the side streets.
HANDICRAFTS (artesanía)
Most important handicraft traditions in Granada consist of musical instruments, ceramics, cloth, leather, and wrought iron. You´ll find that Moorish influence is to be found in many of them, such as marquetry. Other crafts include textiles, pottery, brass and cooperware.
Fajalauza is the name of the typical glazed ceramic from Granada. Its name comes from a Place where potters settled near the gateway of the same name in the Albaicín.
Parks
Both the Alhambra and Generalife have geometrically designed gardens with a large amount of fountains and pools which are surrounded by beautiful beds of flowers. Lots of trees grow fruit on them and the smell of flowers will literally invade you and its colors will capture your attention for sure!. A private villa on a small plot of land is usually called a Carmen. You´ll usually find terraces and fountains in differtent stages of height, quite spectacular to see, especially if you haven´t see this before, with green parts which is usually only ornamental. At different times it creates shade and quiets. Balconies are decorated and courtyards provoke the visitor to rest in its silence. You´ll find the Cipreses and the Purificación to be the loveliest ones.
The best time to go is in the morning or late afternoon, around the area there are two hotels, souvenir shops and other gardens, but the generlife is the best one.
